Amanda Francis is a dancer and choreographer based in the Greater Boston area. She recently received her B.A. in English with a double major in Dance at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. During her time at Skidmore, she worked with various esteemed choreographers such as Robert Battle, Chia-Ying Kao, Erika Pujič, Larry Keigwin, Jason Ohlberg, and Fredrick Earl Mosley while also performing as a guest artist for Ballet X in their tour to Saratoga Performing Arts Center and for ODC/Dance in their tour to SUNY Albany. She is also an active member of Dance Prism Ballet, led by Mary Demaso, where she performs and choreographs for their fundraising galas each year. Her most recent choreographed work The Waves combined her academic interests, creating a piece exploring the themes and characters of Virginia Woolf’s novel by the same name. Francis’s work strives to excavate the stories and humanity within modern dance, creating a wholistic and emotional experience for both dancers and audiences.
Outside of the studio, she is an avid writer and has had multiple short stories published in Lunchbox Magazine. She is also an active musician and often performs original music at local open mics.
